Outdoor Education

Anders’ research explores how the interaction between classroom and outdoor learning environments shapes students’ development. By combining action-based theory with qualitative methods, his work highlights the positive effects of outdoor education on learning ability, academic performance, physical activity, and students’ connection to nature and culture. The research provides valuable insights for teachers seeking to create richer, more engaging learning experiences.

Doctor (PhD) of Education with a specialization in Subject Didactics

My research interest is focused on teachers ’and students’ perceptions and ways of experiences of an interaction between learning environments both in the classroom and outdoors. Preferably based on an action-based theoretical framework, outdoor didactics and qualitative research methods, effects on learning ability, academic performance, physical activity, contact with landscape (nature and culture) in the out-of-doors and a number of other factors that are important for students’ development and for teaching – the place, object, process, way of learning.
